Episode 16

Dung Mat Yuen's Noodles Has Poison

Nim Fu gets punched until he looks like he has a pig's head. AAt Nim Chi's age, she's still trying to catch butterflies.
Nim Fu and Do Do get punched by Mr. Dai's men when they are saved by Nim Chi. She attempts to persuade him, saying that even though Dung Mat Yuen's business isn't what it's used to be, he shouldn't start fights and spread rumors about others. Nim Fu is unhappy and leaves.

Nim Chi has a dream of herself catching butterflies and laughing loudly. Yuk Lou analyzes this and says that Nim Chi will soon have a romantic relationship with someone.

Nim Chi decides to go see Bun Yat Sin about the dream. He tells her that the dream was telling her that she will be embroiled in a lawsuit and a calamity will occur. Bun Yat Sin advises Nim Chi to be careful and gives her a silk pouch, telling her to open it only in the most dire of moments.

Nim Chi returns home, perplexed and confused. When she gets there, several things happen to her that are all ominous omens. To feel better, Nim Chi asks for some incense to be burned to the Gun Yam but all of the incense in the house were used up by Nim Fu, who had them burned in the four corners of the room where he was playing Mahjong and losing. Nim Chi scolds him for being superstitious yet she carelessly drops the pouch from Bun Yat Sin and the group realized it was from him. Nim Fu then says that she was no different from him, since she went to see Bun Yat Sin.

Ah Yuet comments that Nim Chi had already found another cook from the capital to replace Nim Fu, who angrily goes to the kitchen to pack up his stuff there. Ching Bo adds fuel to the fire and Nim Fu touches some of the items that were in the kitchen, including the food prepared for Ah Biu.

Ah Biu asks Ah Mei to try out the food at Dung Mat Yuen, but she suddenly sees someone that seemed to look like her savior and goes after him. After finding out that he wasn't the one she was looking for, the disappointed Ah Mei returns to Dung Mat Yuen. She sees Ah Biu unconscious over his food.

Ah Biu is discovered to be poisoned from the food he ate and Ah Mei decides to get justice for her brother.

Episode 17

Nim Chi Goes to Prison in Place of Nim Fu

The paper inside of the silk pouch reads 'death' and scaring Nim Fu completely! What is Ying Gei doing with her head covered?
Ah Mei demands that Ah Nin take on the case of Ah Biu's poisoning from eating at Dung Mat Yuen. Although he does not want to, Ah Nin decides to arrest Nim Fu.

Nim Fu hears everyone discussing the ten greatest punishments that are used to force suspects to confess their crimes and feels afraid. He decides to look inside the silk pouch Nim Chi received from Bun Yat Sin. But after looking at it, he quickly leaves the house.

Ying Gei takes out her personal items and gives it to Nim Fu to use as money while he finds a reason to make Ying Gei stay behind after he leaves. She agrees, putting his interests above her own and even uses stupid methods to stall the rest of the family from finding Nim Fu. The group gets angry.

Nim Chi later searches for Nim Fu, based on the directions Ying Gei supplied. He was hiding in an abandoned temple and fearfully sees her holding a sword that was stained with blood. Nim Chi sees his shadow and thrusts the sword towards him. (Not in summary: Nim Fu, seeing this, starts to run away but trips. She manages to catch up to him and uses the sword to get a snake that was nearby. Nim Chi then explains that she was after the snake, not him) Nim Fu finally agrees to face the reality about what will happen to him.

Ah Nin points out that the evidence in the case wasn't enough to convict anyone and that he would have to put Nim Fu in prison first. Nim Chi asks to take Nim Fu's place because she feels that she is the one responsible for the restaurant. Ah Nin, feeling helpless, does as she requests and gets scolded by the family for being unfilial.

Yuk Lou, Ah Yat and Nim Fu are arguing on why they should be the head of the family but when they see someone arriving to ask for money, the three decide to let Ah Nin be the leader.

Ah Nin goes to the kitchen to give Ching Bo his work money and accidentally scares him. Ah Nin, seeing this, tells Yu Lung and Ma Fu to check for clues in the kitchen and he leaves.

The servants for the family all become sick and no one cooks the family's meals. Nim Fu decides to cook something himself but no one dares to try it. Ah Nin tells everyone that Nim Chi doesn't want to see anyone and only wishes to eat Nim Fu's noodles.

Episode 18

Dying and Coming Back to Life

Nim Chi dies and everyone is saddened. The ghost doesn't leave because she died wrongfully.
Nim Fu prepares a bowl of his noodles and takes it to the prison cell. Nim Chi tells him that his future is unclear and he should try to be a good person.

Just when Nim Fu is about to leave, Nim Chi suddenly starts to choke and dies. The family is very saddened and Ah Yuet nearly faints several times in the Ling Tong. (place where the body of the deceased is kept) After everyone leaves, someone arrives to ask for forgiveness. Suddenly a strange gust of wind begins and a ghostly apparition appears, intent on searching for someone to kill. (the summary doesn't include this: the person who came to ask forgiveness is Ching Bo, who thought that he was responsible for Nim Chi's death. He was the one who was behind the poisonings, since he was hired by Mr. Dai of the rival restaurant to destroy the credibility of Dung Mat Yuen. Nim Chi is the ghostly apparition. She pretends to die from the noodles in order to get the person who was truly responsible to appear and confess to his crimes)

Actually, everything began from Bun Yat Sin's silk pouch. (Not in summary: Nim Chi sees the character 'death' in the note and realizes that the underlying message was for her to pretend to die in order to solve the case) Ah Nin analyzes the flaws that the suspect had revealed. Nim Chi goes home and appears just when the family was asking Yan Sou for lifestyle fees. They are completely frightened by her and Nim Chi decides to take advantage of it to ask them if they were hiding secrets from her. They tell her of their inner secrets and she then reveals that she was still alive. Ah Yuet arrives and faints from fright after seeing Nim Chi.

Dung Mat Yuen's business returns to normal but Nim Fu refuses to sell his noodles to the people who taunted him before. Nim Chi arrives, her hair in a mess and nearly scares Ah Yuet to death. She discovers that his jade ring was missing and asks Yan Sou to go with her to buy another one.

Yan Sou critizes the jade pieces that the owner introduces to the pair and suggests that Nim Chi should switch to some other jewelry. Nim Chi honestly tells her about an incident that occurred 19 years ago that she blamed herself for. It was the story of her forgetting to buy a pair of chicken legs for Ah Yuet and causing him to turn into a skinny boy from a overweight one as well as making him a slave to the medicinal herbs he takes all the time.

Episode 19

Whether or Not Ah Yat Can Get Married is in 'Smiling'

This is an old piece of jade! Ah Yat was able to avoid getting her face scratched was all due to the painting of a monkey.
Ah Yat and Yuk Lou see that Nim Chi had returned from shopping and was holding large as well as small packages. They immediately start fighting to get her attention. Nim Chi only gave an old jade to Ah Yuet, priced at about 200 taels. Ah Yat couldn't help scolding her mother for favoring Ah Yuet over her other children.

Nim Chi wants Nim Fu to bring gifts and apologize to the Sek family. Nim Fu tries to make up excuses to avoid going and Chun Mui asks to help him go. Nim Chi asks Ah Fook and Ah Luk to help him and Chun Mui is very disappointed.

In her room, Ah Yat nearly gets scratched by a (the character isn't there in the summary but I think it was a spider or some insect) but luckily the painting of a monkey saves her from that fate. (the painting was drawn by Gou Yi Hong and bought back to the family by Ah Nin. Ah Yat immediately takes the painting and keeps it in her room, but doesn't know who drew it)

Nim Chi takes Ah Yat and the others to thank Bun Yat Sin. He exposes the fact that Ah Yat once went to see him to ask about marriage and she gets angry. Bun Yat Sin adds that an important clue to her future husband lay in the monkey painting she owns and gives her a silk pouch. Inside it was a piece of paper with the character for 'smile'. Ah Yat says that she doesn't believe any of it, but she secretly decides to smile more often. Yuk Lou exposes Ah Yat's intention to smile at the men on the street.

Ah Yat doesn't care when Yuk Lou wants Chun Mui and Ah Sau to help her buy watermelon and says that she wants them to go with her to a temple where many scholars go to pray for good luck. Ah Yat meets with Yi Hong there and Ah Sau recognizes the clothes he was wearing were the ones that Chun Mui had fixed. Ah Yat didn't know how to recite poetry with one of the scholars, so she asked Yi Hong for help.

Yi Hong accidentally falls to the group and coincidentally sees Ah Yat smiling at him. He thought she had smiled at him three times and started to fall in love with her.

Ah Yat arrived home very late and was scolded by Yuk Lou.

Yuk Lou played Mahjong and lost money. Ah Sau suddenly arrives and tells her that the watermelon that was being 'refridgerated' had become wintermelon, getting Yuk Lou very angry.

Episode 20

Ah Sau Arranges a Wu Lung (1)

Actually, Yuk Lou's watermelon was stolen by Ah Yuet. Yuk Lou and Ah Mei are fighting for the charm. Who should Chun Mui help?
Yuk Lou angrily returns to her room to tell Ah Yuet of everyone's faults as well as her watermelon becoming wintermelon. She curses the person who stole her watermelon and Ah Yuet starts to have a strange look on his face. Yuk Lou notices this as well as seeing Ah Yuet's chest area looking unnaturally big on the bed and realizes what had happened to her watermelon.

Ah Yuet vomits and Yuk Lou goes with Chun Mui to get a charm to help Ah Yuet early in the morning. She fights with Ah Mei to get the last charm but neither of them relents to the other. Chun Mui knows that Ah Mei wants the charm for her brother Ah Biu and tries to say something for Ah Mei but gets scolded by Yuk Lou. In the end, Yuk Lou uses money to buy another one and cruelly shreds the charm that Ah Mei was fighting for. Chun Mui feels very sorry.

Ah Yuet refuses to drink the water laced with the burned charm. Nim Chi teaches Yuk Lou to mix the water with soup, then add water and oil to hide the flavor. Ah Yuet says that the soup was too salty and refuses to drink anymore. Yuk Lou discovers that the soup was a bit runny and asks Chun Mui for an explanation. (Chun Mui had taken some of the soup for Ah Biu to use and added water as well as salt to make it seem like nothing was taken) Ah Sau didn't want to see Chun Mui get punished for this and said that he was responsible for the soup being too salty and runny.

Ah Sau knew the reason why Chun Mui stole some of the soup and agrees to help her bring the soup to her love interest. Ah Sau thought that her interest was Yi Hong and brought it to him. After drinking the soup, Yi Hong starts to think about Ah Yat. In the end, he uses cold water to calm himself down.

He writes a poem to send to Ah Yat, who treats him with cold words. Yi Hong feels a bit confused.

Chun Mui knows Ah Sau brought the soup to the wrong person and is even more worried about Ah Biu's condition. Ah Sau persuades her to secretly go to see Ah Biu and he nearly becomes a eunuch again in the process.
